Big News

I just found out that I have been promoted and will be transferred to Kuwait. This is the equivelant of being promoted from Brigade S-3 to Brigade XO. I am excited and sad all at once. this place has been my life since February of 2004 and it is hard to leave especially since all my 1st Cavalry buddies are coming back next RIP-TOA.

I will miss the people but I won't miss the mortars, rockets, IEDs, VBIEDs, snipers, camel spiders, helicopter flights after midnight, and being on "The Island" of a FOB.

Well, look at it this way. Unless things have changed considerably since last we met you can probably be a big help to Lou and the rest from Kuwait making sure that "stuff" gets up north to them.
It will also give you a little chance to wind down. Kuwait is a nice city. I have a lot of good friends there and seems I now have one more.
Good luck and God Bless.

Congratulations on the promotion. I'll look forward to comments you may have from Kuwait.

Congrats, James.

Well say hello to everyone at the "resort," but do me a favor and resist the temptation toward beaurocratization. Your boots were on the ground and you know what it's like to build an LSA with a leatherman. Good Luck my friend and remember what one of our locals told me:
"You may leave Iraq, but Iraq will never leave you." Actually, I think he was talking about the coat of mud in my lungs from breathing over there.

I bet there are camel spiders in Kuwait, if you look for them.
